Ramadan is upon us, and I’d like to wish my constituents Ramadan Kareem.
Ramadan is a special month in the Islamic calendar. It is a time of fasting, charity, and reflection.
I know that many of my constituents will be observing the fast and offering their Zakat during this month. I would like to share in these experiences, which is why I hope to fast again, as I have done in the previous two years.
I know that in Leicester and across the UK Muslims make huge contributions to British society, and I am proud to represent a constituency as diverse as Leicester South.
I hope you have a peaceful Ramadan.
